Does anyone have a meaningful response to the following question/points: The fruitage of the spirit found at Gal. 5:22: Love, Joy, Peace, Long-Suffering, Mildness, Kindness. Goodness, Faith and Self-Control, in many way for many people can be increased through the use of anti-anxiety, Anti-depressants, and a host of other Pharma's. Question: Does this punch a hole in the hypothesis that these qualities are indeed the result of having Gods spirit or does this fact lend it self to a more physicalist/Materialist worldview? Is a physicalist/materialist worldview incompatible with a theistic worldview? Please as a favor to me, keep the responses focused on the drug to fruitage part of my discussion, I can already see I am opening a can of worms and I would just prefer the worms to go in a specific direction.

i noticed alot of exjws end up majoring in the social sciences.
i am also interested in what educational choices people have made either while fading or while completely out.

Well, It sounds like many of you have really interesting stories. If any of you would be interested in starting an online group on how to make education easier than we had it. I would welcome an private messages. My dream is to create a scholarship funded in large part by exjws for exjws. and create online resources so that those who are fading can get some help. -

wow lots of responses! I am trying to think of resources to give to the next round of exjw and fading JWs on how to get through school because I was not aware of all the resources. What did you guys find useful? I have also recognized that many of us fall into the catagory of non-traditional adult learners. Am I wrong? -

Mad Irishman not too long ago I would have answered just like you. But after all the stuff that I have learned about the organization by looking at primary sources and documents... nothing shock me about the organization anymore. -

steve2 I am not so sure you understand PR? They do have to exemplify JW lifestyle to promote. What they have to do is reach out to people that COULD become JWs. In a sales sense, the real question is do they attracted people who are "ready to buy" a religion. Surely they are an embarrassment to the longtime JWS or people who are really in the org and know better but the general public has no clue what JW lifestyle is! It could be a bait and switch, in my opinion, I have no proof of this, its just a possibility and if there were proof about it, lets just say I would not be as shocked as I would have been a number of years ago. -

Agreed the question the original post posed is rather loaded. In terms of the Dawkinsian scale I consider my self a weak theist ( to those who do not about the scale) I just say that I am agnostic. However, admittedly the irreducible complexity argument does make me wonder if some kind of organizing feature is out their that is indeed intelligent. But because this intellectual inclination of my is not based in any kind of truly empirical argument but more a mathematical one, I choose to live my life as if there isnt one (a supreme deity) in the same vein as William Cliffords book entitled, "The Ethics of Belief".
